The original Double Dare is a 1976 to 1977 television game show, produced by Mark Goodson & Bill Todman, that ran on CBS and was hosted by the legendary Alex Trebek. The show had rwo contestants, usually a returning champion and a challenger,. Both were in separate isolation booths. Each attempted to identify a subject based on on clues that were given to them, one at a time, on an electronic game board. Before the first clue was given, the correct response was shown to the home audience and the host stated the general category (person, place, etc.). A maximum of 10 clues were played per subject, typically starting with obscure pieces of trivia and progressing toward more widely-known facts.
